Prof. Dr. Shafique Farooqi was born in 1942 in Sialkot, Pakistan. He completed his Master’s degree from Istanbul University and received an Honorary Doctorate in Spiritual Arts from Royal American University. In his 60-year art career, he has created more than 12,000 art pieces and held 107 solo shows in the USA, England, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Germany, Sudan, France, Canada, Holland, Turkey, and Pakistan.
He has mastered freehand sketches, calligraphy, landscape, watercolor, etching, symbolic art, ceramic art, the Symbiosis concept of art (Journey of Line), and spiritual art (Whirling Dervishes). Prof. Shafique Farooqi was awarded the President of Pakistan’s Pride of Performance in 2021 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of art.
260 of his paintings have been commissioned in the USA, England, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Germany, Sudan, France, Canada, Holland, Turkey, and Pakistan.
Prof. Shafique Farooqi donated 10 masterpieces for the Diamer-Bhasha Dam project, the proceeds of which were contributed to the dam funds.
He has received 29 national and international awards and 14 honors in the field of art, including the President’s Pride of Performance award.
Prof. Shafique Farooqi has also published 7 books in the field of art.
